Members of the Geeko Foundation have been dedicated to advancing open-source initiatives by providing financial and organisational support to open-source projects over the year.
The foundation has been providing some stability and support through sponsorships and the processing of donations to assist community efforts.
Over the past year, the foundation has facilitated participation in key events including FOSDEM, the openSUSE Conference, openSUSE.Asia Summit, FOSSCOMM and the Google Summer of Code (GSoC).
The foundation has provided critical funding to help mentors attend the GSoC Mentors Summit and use its Travel Support Program (TSP) to assist contributors attending open-source events to provide a talk. In the past year, the Foundation has provided support totaling more than $50,000 USD.
The foundation also raises funds through donations and sponsorships, which it uses to reinvest into the community. Supporting donations for the project are always welcome. People can donate at https://geekos.org/sponsorship.
The foundation continues to seek broader community engagement to sustain its mission. People interested can contact one of the trustees.
