This was the aftermath of Windows 7 - for one business. Surely we don't need to do this again? |
What does this mean to you? What it doesn't mean is a the need for a new computer. Linux is easier to use and install than ever before!
The Geeko Foundation fully supports the goals of the End of 10 campaign, which continues the mission of the former Upgrade to Freedom initiative to promote digital sustainability, open innovation, and user empowerment. As Microsoft ends support for Windows 10, hundreds of millions of perfectly functional computers risk becoming e-waste. By encouraging users to install GNU/Linux instead of discarding their hardware, this global effort tackles one of the tech industry’s most urgent environmental challenges. The right to repair, freedom from forced obsolescence, and long-term hardware use are values at the heart of both the campaign and the Foundation’s work.
We commend the launch of endof10.org as a practical hub for action. The site helps people find local support, join installfests, and extend the life of their devices—no expensive upgrades, no hidden strings. The Geeko Foundation believes Free Software should power the devices we already own, giving users control, privacy, and performance without environmental cost. We encourage our community to participate in the End of 10 movement and share their experience using #Endof10. Together, we can make Linux not just an alternative, but the default.
We plan to support the End of 10 campaign with talks at this year's openSUSE Conference where we plan to provide talks for businesses on how to migrate to Linux.
